Metadata to be added

Hi guys ,

I am new to teamsite.
I need to add few metadata attributes for a file . Below is the list of attributes already on this file. There are about 200 files . How do I add the attributes to all of them.

which file do I need to lookin and what to add.

By changing the file iwhome/local/config/datacapture.cfg you can define the tags for each file.

That is where you define author, creation date, etc.

Then you use file -> tag to put that data on one or more files.

Since you can copy to all, that is a pretty quick way to do it.

You can also write a script to do that.

All my files(pdf's) are in APPDOCS folder. Could anyone help me in the script to put the data to all the files .

That is not the only way to do it, but one of the easier ways.

If I were you I would search for tools to pull that information from PDF files. Once you have that, writing a script to attach the EA is easy. Parsing the PDF may not be so easy.

Then either someone added that metadata manually using iwextattr - or someone modified your datacapture.cfg sometime after that metadata was added.

Numerous bits of code have been posted which could be used to perform this operation - it's up to you to find them and use them, or write the code from scratch or perhaps hire someone to help you do it. So - in answer to your question - "Could anyone" help you write the script? yes. Will anyone do it for free? Don't know. The implementation of the script is trivial, the data that the script should use for the metadata you want added might make the process less trivial and require more time and effort.

Post your iw-home/local/config/metadata-rules.cfg, iw-home/local/config/datacapture.cfg and full Vpath of few PDFs
in question. Something like that is usually an indication of metadata-rules mess-up.

yet that path is not listed in metadata_rules.cfg

Narrow down your issue search. Modify temporarily[html]

[/html]If you can Tag your PDFs now, your problem is somewhere in metadata-rules. If you still can't - it is in datacapture.cfg

That is (or rather should be) nothing but fragment.

Attach your complete datacapture.cfg File to the post, do not copy/paste. Please indicate the full Path of the attached File original location in your Post.

Bo was asking for the full path to the file you are trying to tag.

Your datacapture file uses a number of inline commands that make it impossible to debug since we have no idea what they do.

As a test, try to remove everything except the BenefitBooks ruleset and try to set metadata.

That should work and would then imply one of your other sections is hosed.

Please note that datacapture.cfg you've listed resides in some custom CONFIG Branch for proper version Control, Updates, etc....
In order for all that to work though both modified metadata-rules and datacapture MUST BE DEPLOYED to the "/iwhome/local/config" Folder.

Has it been done?
