Correct Folder Syntax in ICommand_Update

Is there a correct Syntax for use in ICommand_Update to check that the object selected by the user is a folder? I tried using code similar to checking the document count but it always returns zero

Dim uSelectedNRTFolders() As imanage.NRTFolder
Dim iCountOfSelectedNRTFolders As Integer
uSelectedNRTFolders = mContext("SelectedNRTFolders")
iCountOfSelectedNRTDocuments = UBound(uSelectedNRTFolders ) - (LBound(uSelectedNRTFolders ) - 1)

I have only added the custom menu option to folder selections so do I just assume the user has selected a folder? - not my preferred method of working.

What are you tring to accomplish in using the ICommand command? Where do you prefer to use this command with respect to where you place your progid in the reg key settings?

we have custom commands associated with right clicking on a folder item. While we can hope the command is only added to the registry keys relating to folders I wanted to avoid the issue of an errant IT person placing the registry key in another area such as documents and therefore showing the command when right clicking on a document. The preference was to test that the selected item is a folder and if not ensure it is greyed out. For now we will rely on the reg key being placed in the correct spots.

I might've misunderstood here, but if you're fetching the SelectedNRTFolders context item surely you can assume that your ICommand will be executing against valid folders?

You would need to handle exceptions where the SelectedNRTFolders context item isn't available, which would give you the assurance that the command is only executed (or it's status is enabled) when it there are valid folder objects to work against.

A step further would be to check the type of the object(s) returned (looks like you're using VB6 so this would be using the TypeName function), but I think this is probably unnecessary

If you have WorkSite 8.x, then the contextitems which return the selected folder commonly shared by DeskSite and FileSite are the SelectedFolderObject, SelectedIManObject, and IManDestinationObject. Inside your ICommand_Update(), you may then check for the presence of the folder object, like so:

Set selectedobj = mContext("SelectedFolderObject") '("SelectedIManObject") or ("IManDestinationObject")
If selectedobj Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
If selectedobj.ObjectType.ObjectType = imTypeDocumentFolder Then
MsgBox "It's a document folder."
End If

If it's pre 8.x, then the contextitem that might work for both DeskSite/FileSite is SelectedNRTFolder:

Dim selectedobj As NRTFolder
Set selectedobj = mContext("SelectedNRTFolder")
If Not selectedobj Is Nothing Then
MsgBox "It's a document folder"
End If

(I don't currently have any legacy versions running to verify this contextitem, so you'd have to test it out on your end.)

Or, the SelectedNRTFolders contextitem, suggested by Guido, should also work in the legacy versions.
