Updating data in third-party database based on data in WorkSite database

During our discovery process for a new project we learned that the potential customer would like to have a trigger/stored procedure executed on a third-party database any time an event occurs within WorkSite (i.e. a custom Boolean field is switched from false to true).

We know Interwoven does not recommend a WorkSite database receiving updates outside of the API but this process would be updating a third-party database based on data within the WorkSite database.

Does anyone have any recommendations or concerns regarding this process? Does anyone have any experience successfully implementing such a process?

Thanks for the reply. At this time the project hasn't begun. We had an introduction meeting where the question was asked but no details have been confirmed yet. My question was only to learn from a high level if this type of sql job is possible.

If the customer requires such an implementation I'll post more information here on the forum.
