Submit locked file

(I'm using Teamsite 5.0.2 on Windows 2000)

Is there any way to submit a file from one workarea that is locked in another workarea? When I attempt this operation (regardless of whether or not I select Overwrite or the Keep Locks option), Teamsite lists the file and gives the error "Locked out in another workarea." Is there a way to submit this file and still keep the lock in the other workarea?

I believe the answer is "no" - and if one thinks a bit about the reason for locks - it makes sense.

You'd have to unlock (or have the lock-holder unlock) the files before you could submit your (unlocked) versions of the files.

In general, if you were using the GUI when performing your edits, you should have received warning about the fact that the file was locked in another workarea when you requested to modify the file in your workarea.

There is an option (just noticed it) in 5.5.2 (might have come out earlier?) that you can place in your iw.cfg file to help determine if there is going to be any problems with the submission via a workflow before *any* files get submitted:

## issues with files before attempting the submit.  This provides
## a greater likelihood that the submittask files will be submitted
