ICC Profile Identifier Metadata w/parenthsis causes errors
sarahs
Hi all,
We have a custom job using the web services API running on a Linux box, processing assets in our MediaBin server (v4.6); anyway, the job was able to process about 6780 assets successfully but runs into trouble when encountering assets with "ICC Profile Identifier" meta-data set with values which contain parenthesis additionally all of these assets were created with Photoshop CS for Macintosh.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
Sarah

No, we have not seen this before. Can you describe a use case that can be reproduced with, for example, the Windows Native Client?
In any case, please open a support case.
Cheers,

Lyman,
I think the issue is cased by the image's metadata containing "offensive" characters to the XML utilized by the web services interface; therefore, you'll never be able to reproduce the issue with the windows client as it does not use web services to communicate with the server ;-)

Not likely the case...if the faulty ICC Profile is embedded within the image, then the web service interface will never see it, only the server will when it tries to parse it out.
For these trouble assets, does a MediaBin job get created which then fails? If so, then the problem is occuring within the MediaBin server and not the web service layer.
Have you opened a support case with a sample asset?
