what is TeamSite search ?
Is it another product from Interwoven ? I looked at interwoven.com but dont see this product in the list. I found Universal Search on interwoven.com. Is universal Search and Teamsite search are one and same or different products ?

What is TeamSite search used for ? if Universal Search is different than Teamsite search, then what is Universal search used for ? Whats the difference between the two ?

Please post back the URL where you got reference to Universal Search. As far as TS search is concerned, it is used for searching content within Teamsite. Can be configured on a branch and workarea level.

TS search was introduced with TS 6.5 version and have been preferred way of searching content in Teamsite for most user since then.

You can find the download for TS search 2.1.0 if you go to Product Downloads on Interwoven Support Site, Select Teamsite and then Teamsite 6.7.1 version. More information regarding the product is included in the Teamsite Administration manual and various CLTs used to administer the product can searched in the CLT guide.

TeamSite search is a component that comes along with TeamSite product. However, Installing search is option that you are pormpted for, while installing teamsite.

This Search component if installed helps in indexing Branches and Workareas and aids in quick search facility in the context of TeamSite environment.

UniversalSearch I saw on " www.interwoven.com "
As moonkhanna says, if its a separate install which can be downloaded from interwoven support site. Is there any licencing requirement to use TS Serach ? or is there any cost involved to use TS Search ?

If its a component that comes with TS, and is optional to install. Does it cost anything to install this component ?

It comes as part of Teamsite, you get it when you buy Teamsite. There is no license however there is a separate install. Interwoven recommends placing search on a different server (though this is often ignored), it does require a production quality DB to be configured for the event subsystem (Oracle, DB2, MS SQL). The costs can be significant (more hardware, RAM, disk, DB) but you are not paying anything to IWOV
