Require New Version on specific files only

We've had a question about developing something to enable clients to specify that certain documents in WorkSite have to be auto-versioned. The ideal is that we set a boolean field on specific documents which triggers a process requiring a new version each time the document is edited.

Has anyone had any similar requirements? If so, we'd love to swap ideas.

We've done something similar. We approached this by setting one of the boolean Custom fields on the profile. We hijack the DocumentBeforeSave event and fetch this value, and if True apply our versioning logic.

An approach at another site was to do the same thing but store the boolean flag at the document level, rather than the WorkSite profile
