Env:
TS 6.1
Solaris: 8
iPlanet LDAP

We are presently using a separate Box(Web server) and using reverse proxy with it for accessing our TS6.1

As we plan to upgrade we are planning to remove the separate Box(Web server) and access the CMS directly without any reverse proxy.

The problem we may face is that how much load/Processes can the Apache web server that comes with TS handle.

Is there a way to increase the number of processes that the default apache can handle.

As far as I remember, you will have install a separate instance of Apache for this purpose and not use the TS Apche for the same.
