open document function problem
Joseph_goh
Hi,
I am using mediabin web client 4.5.3 and the mediabin server has installed microsoft office software.
After I clicked on the "open document" link of a powerpoint or excel or word file in the mediabin web client, a dialog box will appear showing "Please wait.. Buffering..." but nothing happens after that.
Permissions have been given to the "Get Original" task and also the browser popup function is enabled and not blocked.
What could be the problem and how to solve it?
Thanks.

Can you specify the Client OS and Browser Version ? Also the MS-Office version on MB-4.5.3 Server ? Does this happen from just one Client DT/LT
or just any Client that tries to access xls,ppt Files from the MB Server ?
Is this MS-Office 2007 and are you accessing it through IE7 on Vista !

It would also be useful to look at the job history via either the meM or the Windows Native Client to see if the retrieval of the office document succeeded on the server side. Also check MBP.log and possibly prim.log to see if there are any red flags.
Do, for example, pdf files work okay?

Hi,
The client OS is windows XP and browser version is IE7.
We are using MS Office 2003 and it is accessing through browser.
I have tried with several client workstations and same problem exists.
It happens to all types of documents such as powerpint, words, pdf, etc.
At server station, it is ok if I access through localhost using IE7 but same problem exists if I access through ip address using IE7.
For e.g. it is ok -
http://localhost/mediabin
problem exists -
http://172.16.10.205/mediabin
I hope the above info will help in your investigations.
Thanks.

Often these sorts of problems seem to be related to Mime type settings in the web client, but I will pass the thread along to the experts on this end.
