Can one workflow kickoff a second separate workflow?

Hi,

Can a workflow kickoff a second separate workflow? The two workflows are separate and not nested.

In some given task of the first workflow, can we kick off the second workflow passing on certain parameters. My design need is that when the regular content update workflow is about to be completed(before its final task), it should kick off a few internationalization workflows for language translations. I should be able to kick off 1,2 or 10 instances of the international workflow.

Please advise if this is possible and any good ideas how to achieve this.

You can do via following ways:
1. Invoke a job spec file (Workflow placed in compiled format)
2. iwwft_instantiator.cgi
3. using WFConstructor.pm

I suggest reading documentation and/or searching for threads regarding the CLTs: iwjobc, iwwft_compile.ipl, and possibly iwmodelc (if you're using 6.7.1 [or-later] Workflow Modeler) It is possible to do what you are asking, but as with much such customizations, the devil is in the details, and that's your responsibility - or else the responsibility of someone you hire to design and develop it.

Thanks for your replies. I am sorry I had not provided the platform details. Its TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1 on Windows 2003 SP1 and workflows would be created using Workflow modeler. iwmodelc or iwjobc look promising and as you mentioned there is customization involved. Do you see any major issues in instantiating "workflow modeler" workflows visavis the .wft workflow?
