Generation of multi-lingual content

Hi,

I have a requirement to publish multi lingual content on the website. When enter content in my form fields and do a preview it works fine. I have made it work for UTF-8 in my presentation template. It also generates proper content with all special characters.

But when I do a deployment some special characters are replaced by "?,%40,%20" etc... using Open deploy to webserver.

Is there any setting which needs to be done in OD configuration script while doing the deployment from Teamsite to any target web server?

Whatever your problem is, it is probably not related to Open Deploy.

It looks more like different Encoding settings in the Virtualization and Production Rendition Environments.
This is actually easy to validate. When you have your garbage symbols(like ??) again, get to your Browser View/Encoding
and force "Unicode(UTF-8)". If that helps - you've Deployed correctly

Does the generated HTML document declare it's self to be UTF-8 encoded with a <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> tag? If not the browser may be displaying it using a different encoding.

You can force the encoding in the browse with View/Character Encoding (FF) or View/encoding (IE) and selecting UTF-8 to confirm everything looks correct.

just this<meta tag="" /> doesn't solve the problem
we are having ??? in the generated content from CMS to target directory

example below describes the scenario:

Il s’agit plutôt de parler des clients::: is in my dcr

now lets generate content in CMS
Il s’agit plutôt de parler des clients::: will be in the xml of workarea of CMS

now deploy this to target deploy directory
Il ? agit plut?t de parler des clients::: is present in xml

i'm assuming this problem of getting the umlauts to ?? is problem with opendeploy or the filesystem (unix) not supporting the UTF-8 file format.

any help???

If a Page you've generated does not render correctly, it must be a problem with Unix Filesystem. What else could that possibly be?
Do you really think that you are the first person to notice an obvious deficiency in systems heavily used by hundreds or thousands
of people for years?

So, help us to help you. Attach DCR (do not post! Attach a File). Attach an asset (XML, HTML, JSP - whatever) generated from that DCR.
What is the software that you use that shows you these question marks? Is it a browser, vi, emacs, something else?

If it's an Editor of a sort chances are it is not UTF-8 enabled (Your program, not UNIX File System).
If it's a Browser, you either did not set a correct Encoding and/or did not generate (in some cases) required BOM Markers
