Livesite - copying components from one site to another

Hi

i have a component in one site which uses a DCR in the templatedata directory for that site. I have copied the component into the component directory for a second site - but now it cannot find its DCR. Does this mean I will have to copy the DCR as well?

has anyone done this before?

Hi Justin,

The components of Livesite are kept in a separate store so that they are accessible to all sites. This is for re-usability of components. For this you have a component sub-branch inside the "livesite" store. This means you don't have to copy a component anywhere. Its instances are created within the pages of sites.

Secondly, If I assume your sites are in different branches altogether and if you want the same data in the component across various sites, you'd have to copy the DCR in the templatedata folder of all sites you wish to access that DCR for. Otherwise, if the sites are in the same branch, there is no need to copy the DCR.
