Hi,

I am not able to generate a simple html page, I have a datacapture.cfg file with just one field "Heading" which is a text and I am capturing the heading entered through a .tpl file and want to generate a html. I have attached the .tpl file...

and the output I get when I preview it is :

my $heading = iwpt_dcr_value('dcr.Heading');
iwpt_output($heading);

Got stuck at a very basic thing.

Pls help.

Why are you using "iwpt_dcr_value"?

What is the name of your container and item?
syntax will be iw_value name='dcr.container name.item name'/>

I have not put that in any container, I am accessing it directly as dcr.Heading where Heading is the name of my textfield.

Can you post the DCT and the relevant entry for this particular category / data-type from the templating.cfg file?

As for the code - if you're going to write the PT in perl I'd suggest a few changes to what you posted:

iwpt_output("<html>\n<head><title>Testing</title></head>\n<body>\n");
  my $heading = iwpt_dcr_value('dcr.Heading');
  iwpt_output("<h1>$heading</h1>\n");
  iwpt_output("</body></html>\n");
</iw_perl>

What is the name of your container and item?
syntax will be iw_value name='dcr.container name.item name'/>

If you are using XML style DCRs then you will need to reference the name as dcr.Root.Heading

Also these are case sensitive, so make certain that is consistent.

Your datacapture is perfect , i used the same and it worked fine. I have attached .tpl which i used to display the heading value.

I guess some problem is present with your templating file,I have attached the new templating file try using that.

Just uploaded the templating and the tpl .. I was able to preview the page but the text entered in the textfield was not captured while previewing the html.

Try putting preview-dir="/" instead of preview-dir="/templatedata/iw_preview"
in your templating.cfg
