CallServer not sending parameter??

I have some Form API code that does a callServer and passes it the DCR Last Modified Date, or at least I want it to. I'm finding that my CGI being called isn't getting the parameter when I try to grab it in the CGI. My log shows that it's printing a blank for the value passed in.

  var parameters = new Object();
  parameters.lmd = moddate;
  IWDatacapture.callServer("/iw-bin/ama/formatLastModDate.cgi", parameters, true);

function populateLastModDate(formattedDate) {
  alert("Returning from Mod Date Call Server");
  alert("Formatted Last Mod Date is\n\n" + formattedDate);
  IWDatacapture.getItem("/object/Content/modDate").setValue('formattedDate');
}

I've also tried changing the line that sets the parameter to parameter.lmd = IWDatacapture.getModificationDate ();, but got the same results.

Here is the code in the CGI that will grab and print it:


### Take in the passed parameters and assign them to variables
my $in  = new CGI;
my $lmd = $in->param('lmd');
print LOG "System Last Modified Date is $lmd\n\n";

I've attached a doc with the screen shots of the alerts in the code above, along with some of the log file.

If I run the following from the command line:

/opt/Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /opt/Interwoven/TeamSite/httpd/iw-bin/ama/formatLastModDate.cgi lmd="Thu Jun 19 14:33:37 CDT 2008"

I get back what I would expect:

{body onload="parent.getScriptFrame().populateLastModDate('Jun 19, 2008')">

One other thing I found in the access.log. I have 3 callServers going on and the other 2 show that they're passing params in the access.log while this one appears not to include it:

Post your callserver code. You should have something like this:

my $modDate= $cgi->escape_html_data($cgi->{form}{Imd});

dump modDate (or whatever you call it) to a file and see what it looks like

Did you look at the log ? I suspect it does not look like you *think* it should look

Which log are you referring to?

I suspect my issue is in the Form API script calling the callServer CGI. In the access.log, it isn't showing that it's passing a parameter to the CGI for some reason. My alert box shows the proper value for the Last Modified Date, so I'm not sure why the parameters.lmd = moddate; isn't being set up and included.

I would expect to see something like:

You are not getting the parameters correctly from the JS. Are you turning off buffering in the IPL ? Is there a chance that you have capital-i instead of little L anywhere ?

I changed the code to test something and this passes my second parameter only and not my first one:

I just don't understand why the parameter isn't taking the assignment on my original one. (parameter.moddate)

Here are the contents of my log file...nothing going in there.

IWDCRInfo.getModificationDate returns JavaScript Date Object.
IWDatacapture.getModificationDate does not exist.

You can not really send live JS Object to the Perl code (using CGI Protocol, of all things!). Look for Date.toString(),
Date.toGMTString() and the like methods. That's what you should use to set a String parameter for callServer.
