Perhaps it's time to get this forum going - so here is my first contribution

htmldoc stores the location of the font files in the built application as an absolute path (unix) e.g. /devarea/htmldoc/share/htmldoc which previously made me think we had to rebuild as we deployed the software to the other environments.

However ...

You can set HTMLDOC_DATA to point to $HOME/htmldoc/share/htmldoc where $HOME changes by environment and then simply build once and copy the htmldoc/bin, man, and share directories into each area.
