If Scrittura runs on UNIX it is possible to set up WordML to edit templates directly without storing copies on the Windows PC. The only functionality lost is the ability to preview from WordML, but as this currently does not display the expanded template then this is no great loss. Let me explain...
The configuration:
>> Scrittura - runs on unix1 port 7001 in the dev environment
>> Templates and product definition source control versions are on on the unix file system in /devarea/scrittura/custom_src/top
>> WordML template editor runs on PC1 which is configured to use a mapped drive (e.g. Z: ) pointing to /devarea/scrittura/custom_src/top
>> the product definition files should be edited to use ../dtd to locate the proddef.dtd file (as in my previous post).
>> runtime/scrittura3-config.xml should have the scratchpad-template set to "/devarea/scrittura/custom_src/top/templates" (the template-folder etc. should already be set by the build process)
>> WordML server runs on winsrvr1 port 50000 for development
This little lot then enables the WordML user to edit templates directly in the unix directory and preview them by sending a trade through data enhancement or putting a new trade into the "dev" instance of Scrittura.
NOTE: Scrittura ALWAYS looks for the product definition files in the
@scrittura.home@ area i.e. runtime so if you change a pre-build version (custom_src/top/products) remember to copy it to the runtime/products directory to test it in devarea.
