Adding users to a work area

I added users on branch.
4 of these users I added as authors on a workarea in the branch where owner of workarea being the default owner. Now , when I log in as author, none of the permissions are working. Why is that ?

When I make the author who is logging in as an owner of the work area, then permissions are working. Does it mean that author has to be owner of the workarea in order for permissions to work ? If that is so, that means no other user can be added as a user on that workarea. Because owner is already there and permissions dont work if author is not the owner. In such a situation, how to add other individual users to a workarea, whose owner is different ? Do I have to add the other users as group only ?

If I have specified a usergroup on a workarea, can I add individual user on that workarea ? I tried, but didnt work. I want to make sure, whether it is possible some other way.

What version of TS are you using (including service pack and patches)?
What platform / OS is your TS server on (including service pack and patches)?
Which of the GUIs are you using - CCPro or CCStd?
What are the owner / group settings for the branch?
What are the owner / group settings for the workarea?

TS - 6.7.1
OS - windows server 2003
GUI - CCPro
Owner of branch - Administrator(User who logged in)
Owner of WA - same owner as branch

So you have no service packs nor patches applied to the version of TS you are using - correct?
Do you have any group settings for the branch and workarea?

If you don't have group settings, how do you expect a non-owner of the workarea to be able to do anything within that workarea?

We have a similar issue with our client using TS 6.7.1 SP 1 on Windows 2003.

Here are our steps to adding users:

1) Add users to the server as local accounts.
2) Add users to teamsite.
3) Create 3 groups on teamsite, [name]_group, [name]_approver_group, [name]_editor_group
4) Add [name]_approver_group and [name]_editor_group to [name]_group as members
5) Add the users to the relevant editor or approver group
6) Create a new workarea, set Sharing to Group and add [name]_group to Group
7) Enter the workarea and grant the necessary rights such as Editor to [name]_group, Reviewer to [name]_approver_group

The problem is that if we log on as the new users using CCStd after performing the above steps, the new workarea does not appear under My Workareas.

However the new permissions will only be granted if I restart the Interwoven Teamsite Service and all associated services. Therefore this makes adding a new user or workarea a seriously dangerous thing to do on Teamsite.

Are there any other alternatives?

what I am trying to know is, if on a workarea, an owner user is already existing. Can we add new user, as an individual(not as group) on this workarea ?

If an owner is using a workarea, can we add user group to this workarea which is separate from owner user?

Firstly Access to Branches and Workareas in TeamSite are governed by the user groups that are assigned. Meaning.. If user "A" needs to access branch "B" ( Group assinged = BG), then "A" needs to be a member of group "BG".

Functional privileges like creating a new branch, Workarea etc will depond on the Role(s) assigned to the user "A" .

You can provide access to Users other than "owner" to a given workarea by including them /adding them to the group assigned to the workarea.
