How to initiate a workflow via on clicking generate button in DCR

I am very new to workflow. Situation is that client want to initiate a workflow on click of Generate button in DCR.

Could any one suggest their bright opinion over the same.

The client should learn to use the features of the product that already exist. There is a finish button that will regenerate and submit (if you say yes) that covers your request in a slightly different manner. You can also remove the generate button so it is less confusing.

If you really want to do this, then at the end of the generate (you would need to parse the command in the TPL to filter out a preview) you can run an iwperl block and execute iwjobc (other options depend on if you are using WFM or WFT).

This solution is non-trivial. So do yourself and your users a favor and try to convince them that the finish button is the correct solution. I will wager that this solution, if you write one, will be pulled out within a matter of weeks.

Training is a good idea.

If a user edits a page generated by the template, then the template is popped up, upon finish, said page is regenerated and the WF is start with both the DCR and the generated file.

If a person edits a DCR directly then the DCR is all that is submitted.

That being said, it is very poor workflow design if you do not automatically regenerate the page from any DCR that was submitted and attach that page (or pages) to the workflow.
