Part of DCR | Deploy to CLOB

Hi,
I m looking at a requirement that deploys part of DCR to a CLOB field. Can someone help me out with configuration for this. thanks.

DCR attached.

I want to deploy the element "showScheduleInformation" - and all the child elements of it to the CLOB field in a table.

Roll your own process with Perl DBI (or Java equivalent) - or, perhaps figure out a means of doing it with a DD tuple preprocessor. Either way, you're basically writing custom code to manipulate the data prior to using some mechanism to transfer the data to the database.

I have not used tuple preprocessor before, i will read ddadmin notes and try to do that. do you have anything to suggest before i start on that? Thanks again for the reply.

there are technically a couple of other ways you could do it.. not saying its the best, but it might require less code (or less customization)..

1 - you could use formAPI to set a hidden filed that basically combined all the nodes of your "showScheduleInformation" into another field (as a string) and then push that new hidden full string node into the CLOB

2- you could use a presentation template and auto-output an xml (or html, or whatever) file with just the XML of those nodes, set the output file in either and Extended Attribute or in a path you can programatically get to on the OS and then in your DD config do something like:
[html][/html]

where my EA "root/0/configuration/0/outputFileLocation/0" has something like: file://somepath/on/the/os/to/output.xml

and is-url=yes means pull in the contents of the file (just make sure it can acutually find the file)

3 - the DCR looks small enough, just push the entire thing to the CLOB, not just the node, using the method in #2 but with the DCR path, and whatever your reading the XML with (or using that clob data) just change your XPATH a bit..

4 & 5 - as Ghoti suggests..

yes, using a hidden variable and manipulating(updating the variable before saving/deploying) the hidden variable is easy to push as a single value in database field. Use a delimiter between the subfields if you want to show them as separate items later.
