Full text search support for PDF

The Teamsite 6.7.1 SP1 Admin guide mentions:
Content is extracted only from documents belonging to these general classifications:
???? Word processor documents
???? Spreadsheet documents
???? Presentation documents

Does the full text search work for PDF documents? Has anybody tried this out?

We have search through pdf working, out of the box as far as I know.

Note that in the search.properties file there is a listing of binary file-extensions (which are excluded from the index). pdf should NOT be mentioned here.
