Regarding GET LATEST

Hi,
We are currently using TS652, there is a requirement to customize the options that are available when we hit GET LATEST for a file or folder. Actually, it asks for SELECT SCOPE and for that we have to remove the option of staging that it gives. How can we achieve this? Any pointers would be of great help.

I'm not aware that this can be customized.

Best would be to train your users properly. :-)
Second best is to create a custom-cgi that mimics the get-latest for you. You can then remove the get-latest buttons/menus. However this can only be done at the server-global-level. That is, NOT on a per-branch basis. And I don't think you can REPLACE the get-latest-button-action with your custum-cgi (I told you it's best to train your users :-)

Since I don't believe that screen is customizable (maybe it can be hacked, but thats definately not supported), what I would do in your situation is remove all the default Get Latest options (button and menu item) and replace them with your own version that actually calls a Workflow, where it can then take the files/folder attached and you can then write a quick "get_latest" external task (which can run as an admin) which will do what you need to do..

You can see a post from me earlier about removing and replacing get_latest in 6.7.1, which I think you should be able to apply the concepts to 6.5 (configs are a bit different). keep in mind I was doing this for a different reason, but it should give some Ideas, and using url commands to call a workflow is not too difficult.

hopefully that gives you some ideas.

We had a user do what they thought was a get latest on one file and it overwrote the entire workarea with files from staging. Is this consistent with what would happen if they chose the "Area: STAGING" from the get latest options panel? They wont admit it (they claim they had only the first radio button "Selected item" selected), but I think thats what happened.

Yes you are right. You may try reviewing iwevents log. not sure what data gets logged when an update action is executed but you may find your answer there. If I have time I will take a look. This is for definitive proof of course, but the update log will reveal how many files were updated and who did it.

FYI : "Update" logging info in iwevents does not provide a level of detail to give you what you are asking for
