Problem in creating content rules

1. I created segments for a site A.
2. Content type and Content category in taxonomies for workarea in which site A is created. Then I submitted this taxonomy.
3. After that I tried creating content rules.

But in “Then section” when I select “select content that belongs to category ▼ <select a category> and add to <a content context> “. On clicking “<select a category>” it’s not showing categories created in the taxonomy, in fact its not showing anything and the box is empty.

But in “If section” when I select “the user belongs to customer segment ( ▼ select a segment ) “ . On clicking “<select a segment >” its shows segment created by me for this site.

Please tell me what I am missing in here. How can I get category type created in taxonomy populated on click of “<select a category>”?

did you publish your taxonomy for development?

I submitted taxonomy to staging.But right now we are not able to publish anything to development.
I guess I'll have to wait till our development environment starts working. Smiley Sad

After publishing Taxonomy to development ,We are able to to see it in content rule manager. Smiley Happy

Could you please elaborate a bit on this as to why is it required to publish taxonomy to the development env ,so that it is visible in manage content rules page.

the rules engine reads the information from the DB so that it can be used in both dev and prod so publishing to Dev is needed in order to populate the DB.

We have created few rules for targeting ,however we can't find anything to implement those on the components in the pages that we have previously created.

Only thing i found in livesite was "Livesite>content>simple content list" component(could anyone also throw some light on what exactly this component does).The properties of which allow us to use the created rules ,however how to use these rules on custom made components and also on the components already provided.e.g image component.

Also could anyone provide any pointer to documentation on Targeting other than "ls_300sp1_dev_v2_en.pdf".

the simple content component is just a simple example of leveraging content rules. you should take a look at the components xml there is a rule Datum that is used. As part of 3.1 more out of the box rules based components will be available.
