Mediabin Data in \ImageDB

Hello,

When a asset, say a .tiff file (50MB) is added in to Mediabin through the web client, how the asset is actually stored in to the /ImageDB directory? Does the stored file hold the same size (50MB) as the original file? I need this information as I need to come up with the estimate of disk space required for /ImageDB backup.

Hi Vin,

Yes, I know that the images are stored in /ImageDB and needs disk space appropriately.

But what I need to know is does the file stored in /ImageDB holds the same size as the original image added in Mediabin or is it modified to any mediabin format before storing in /ImageDB and have a different size?

Everything gets stored there. With the web client though there is a transfer folder where the assets are temporarily copied to and then to the ImageDB.

The storage used is slightly more than the original file as it stores not only a copy of your file, but previews, and large metadata items (such as ICC profiles). In most cases, however, the original file is a good approsimation of the diskspace.
