To Check the Status of a Process

Hi All,

I am new to TS on windows , I am making a script that would stop the TS services > Recycle the Logs > Start the services.

The issue is that in unix i used to easily find out that a process is running or not , and if it is not running then only the logs would be rotated.

Now i am using the below CLT to find out whether a process is running or not .

tasklist /FI "imagename eq iwserver.exe"

also
tasklist /FI "imagename eq iwserver.exe > c:\\test.txt

But utlimately i am not able to use it in the perl program efficently , so that It could be integrated in the logic.

If any one has a better idea then pls do let me know .

I have a script at work to do this. Of course I am currently at home.

However you can use netstat or net start. I will post the exact syntax later.

Try both from a DOS shell and you should be able to figure it out quickly

I have another small question ,

When I am using the below lines of code to stop the services , then the services are stopping as intended , but coming at system("net stop \"Interwoven TeamSite\""); , the process goes on and on . It just says stopping . we waited for 30 mins , but nothing happened .

When we run the net stop seprately then the TS starts/stop within a min .

I am using perl supplied with TS, to run the program , could that be an issue.

From a MS page:

Stopping the Server service prevents users from gaining access to the computer's shared resources. If you stop the Server service when users are using server resources, a warning message appears. A y (that is, yes) response cancels all connections to the computer.

I suspect that is what is happening. Try to stop the others and then issue a net stop by hand and see if you get the prompt for Y/N

I do not know of a /do-it-anyway flag to net, but you can check the MS docs.
