Who designs Workflow ?
A developer is someone who performs a task in the workflow , right ? Someone decides who has to do what work and accordingly the work goes to him. Developer gets his role as a job in the process and he does his part on the job and forwards it to the next person, right ?
So is workflow developed by some one above developer ? I am bit confused about the role of developer in the development of workflow. Can someone pls explain the process ? If developer does not develop workflow, is he required to know workflow thoroughly ?

A developer designs and writes the workflow. He needs to work with the end user to see what they need, steps, etc, but end of the day a developer (or someone who is TS knowledgeable) should design it. When an end user designs a WF, it typically gets rewritten unless a TS architect/developer has blessed the steps.

I dont think that i can understand your query correctly. However to brief, a developer is the person who develops; be it a workflow or a script. However there are authors / content writers / reviewers who works on the specific tasks been assigned to them.

Teamsite Developer is the person who develops the workflow. Basically, the TS developer gets the requirement of the Business Process from the Business Users and then develops the workflow using a Workflow Template or Workflow Model..

Once the workflow has been developed and tested, it is released for use by the Business Users.

nope, a WF should be developed by 1 person, not a team.

It seems to me as if you are from the Automobile mass production line and that is just a joke. If Business Users have various requirements, then they may as well require various different workflows or a single workflow complex enough to handle all their requirements.

That is upto the Teamsite Architect to decide. Depending upon the complexity, there may be one developer involved in writing workflow External Tasks and CGI tasks, the other developer developing workflow itself but as Andy stated - 99% times, its the single developer doing all the stuff.
