user and group used for deployment

Hi All,

We have a 2 tier deployment configuration in which content is first deployed to a middle tier and then from middle tier to the other web and application servers.
I just wanted to know if we dont specify user and group in permissionRules element of deployment configuration file then what user and group the deployment would use?


 [permissionRules file="0775" directory="0775" /]

Also, following error occurs when we run a deployment after specifying user and group


 ERROR:  Could not read next directive.
LIB: 2008-07-08 06:20:25  ERROR: Failed to deploy local_directory[.] of area[/iwmnt/default/main/www/fidelitypensions/planviewer/en/uat_simp/EDITION/ODTest@08Jul2008]
ERROR:  Could not read phase start message.

LIB: 2008-07-08 06:24:25  ERROR: Failed 1 of 1 local_directories

I went through the support site and found the following article related to it :-

Could anybody clarify that how to check for user and group referred here on the webservers.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Is the source, middle-tier and destinations are UNIX? Do you run deployment using root or non-root?

All are unix servers and the deployment is run as non-root.

There are some restrictions when running deployment as Non-root. Please refer
OD 620 Admin guide - Page 57 "Restrictions When running as Non_root"
