Extracting the Original Author From Document During Initial Migration

When importing documents into WorkSite for the first time (initial migration), is it possible to pull the author of the document from the document itself (MS Office Docs, etc.)?

This would be for migration purposes when we may have one user migrating all the documents for their department into WorkSite, however, we don't want them to be the author of all the documents. The author would ideally be listed within the document properties and available for extraction.

Is this possible?

If not, how have you guys handled this situation?
