How to implement DAS

Hi,

I am a new Interwoven User, i need to deploy my DCR's directly into DB using DAS and User Defined Database Schema bcoz in my DCT the values must be send to different tables instead of single table and it must trigger automatically.
I had gone through od.610.ddadmin.pdf and found that we have to use dbschema.cfg and ddcfg_uds_custom.template

but my question is

1) where shall we have to place dbschema.cfg file?
2) ddcfg_uds_custom.template wht shall be enter in this file and how shall we call them (iwsyncdb -ddgen)
3) how can we relate the dbschema.cfg to ddcfg_uds_custom.template
4) Pl. let me know what else is required to solve my problem
5) We are not using any DTD's in our DCT's is it necessary to use a DTD for deployment purpose?

configuration used:
Teamsite 6.7.1
OpenDeploy 6.1
server : Unix

You will never get an answer from any one, cuz you are expecting for some one to literally spoon feed you. Best suggestion any one here would give you is to run example as shown in the manuals. Start with a sample DCT(Example DCT's) and go down the line all the way to DAS. Everything is given in the manual. Start doing and when you get errors, post them and some one would definately help.

Thanks for ur reply, Can u Please clarify me few things
1) what shall be mentioned in ddcfg_uds_custom.template
2) Is DTD necessary for DCTs to go over into DB?
3) In DAS+UDS combination shall we require any modifications in these files odbase.xml,odrcvr.xml & nodes.xml ?

DAS

Prerequisites:

1) Install Teamsite

2) Make sure the TS Event subsystem is up & running.
Go to : TS HOME/local/logs, edit eventsubd.log
iweventsubd: ---------- STARTED: Tue Jun 27 11:36:21 IST 2006

If it is STARTED, the above message will be logged.
3) Need to have database connection details for which we targeted to apply DAS/DD. Also need basic privileges like creating session, tables, modify tables, delete tables for that user.
4) In TS /etc/iw.cfg, do the following :
log_setea=yes
log_deleteea=yes
log_syncdestroy=yes
log_syncrevert=yes
log_renamefse=yes

Things to change, to setup the DAS & DD :

1) After installation of OD Base
2) Go to OD HOME/etc
3) Edit odbase.xml,
Uncomment tag, enter a valid unique port number and set standalone_enable=yes, das_enabled=yes.

It will look like following :

SAVE the above changes
4) Edit database.xml from OD HOME/etc
Enter valid database connection details, for example

db = "10.120.2.129:2048/cps"
user="sa"
password=""
vendor = "sybasease"
max-id-length = "30"/>
[/html]

Save the changes.

Edit the deploy.cfg & uncomment teamsite.version

5) Edit daemon.cfg from OD HOME/etc
If required change the “Filter section to specify which events to filter-out or filter-in” and also add/modify Filter section to DCR.

* Normally you can skip this item no. 5

6) Go to OD HOME/ddsyncdb
Rename file drop.cfg.example to drop.cfg
Rename file synctracker.cfg.example to synctracker.cfg
Whenever branch/workarea got deleted from TS, the drop.cfg is invoked and the respective tables in the database will get dropped.

Edit drop.cfg, by default it will contain the following entry,

change the database use, whichever is required. For example if you want to deploy things to Sybase database, do the following changes

where sybasease-db is defined in database.xml. (see above database.xml example)

7) Go to OD HOME/ddtemplate
OOTB we request user to use UDS template to do DAS/DD. You will find the following template files under this directory:

ddcfg_uds.template
ddcfg_uds_custom.template
mdc_ddcfg_uds.template

If you are planning to use “oracle” db, no to change the above files, but if you are planning to use other db (say Sybase for e.g.), then edit the above files & change from “oracle-db” to “sybasease-db”.

8) Once all the mandate changes are done, restart the OD Services

If you want to continue DAS setup via CLT, continue the following steps

9) For capturing EA, need to run the following CLT to generate the mdc_dd.cfg under TS HOME/local/config

Go to OD HOME / bin
$./iwsyncdb –mdcdbschemagen

The output of the file will create dbschema.xml under TS HOME/local/config
Now run the following command to generate the mdc_dd.cfg

$./iwsyncdb –mdcddgen

This command will generate the file mdc_dd.cfg under TS HOME/local/config

Note :- For MS SQL 2k & Sybase edit the mdc_dd.cfg & change the datatype DATE to DATETIME, since DATE is not supported data type.

10) Now access the TeamSite, for example if the TS is installed on machine , invoke the following command from the browser :

http://hostname

Login using proper credentials

11) After successful login create a BRANCH & WORKAREA

12) Go to the DATABASE & check whether some TABLES got created.

For example:

DEFAULT_TEAMSITE_METADATA_MASTER_MAIN_{branchname}_STAGING

DEFAULT_TEAMSITE_METADATA_MASTER_MAIN_{branchname}_WORKAREA_{workarea_name}

Note :- For Oracle & Sybase, it will create a short table name, for which equivalent long table name is maintained under IWOV_IDMAPS

13) To initiate DAS for particular DCR category/type, do the following:

First copy the templatedata directory from teamsite examples to /iwmnt/default/main/{mybranch}/WORKAREA/{myworkarea}

Create some DCR’s on the particular category/type

Run the following CLT’s to initiate :

$./iwsyncdb –dbschemagen /default/main/{mybranch}/WORKAREA/{myworkarea} category/type

This above command will create dbschema.cfg.

$./iwsyncdb –ddgen /default/main/{mybranch}/WORKAREA/{myworkarea} category/type

Finally run the initial command to initiate the DAS for DCR, this will put the data inside the DCR to DATABASE.

$./iwsyncdb –initial /default/main/{mybranch}/WORKAREA/{myworkarea} category/type

14) Go to the Database end & verify DCR tables are create and check it contains related information

ive tried dropping/recreating the tabels numerous times and still keeps happening.

Hello Arthas76,

The errors says that the "DEFAULT_TEAMSITE_METADATA__MASTER__MAIN_COMMON_STAGING" table is not registered in the iwtracker table. This should happen automatically when you set up DAS for this workarea but some how it didn't. So, you need to add this workarea and its STAGING area manually in the iwtracker table and that'll resolve the issue.

weve been doing inserts manually but its a pain and ripe for error - any idea why the iwtracker table isnt getting updated automatically? we even tried move our DAS setup to a new database - i did verify the settings in synctracker.cfg

same issue! tried bouncing services, restarting the box, etc etc - please advise
