Customize File Menu By Branch & Role??

Hi,

We are running TeamSite 6.5 SP2 on Solaris. We Content Center Pro.

I'd like to customize the File, Edit, View, and Actions menus by role and branch. For example if I'm an Author in branch "www" then I don't want to show the delete, move, rename items in File menu. However if I were an Editor in in the "www" branch I DO want to show those menu items. Either way I want to enforce different customizations on our "intranet" branch by role.

Possible in our version? Another version ? Future versions?

You need to do UI Customization. As part of these, you need to modify Out of the box jsp's. For example for File->New Folder you need to edit 'creation_directory.jsp'. Based of branch (regex match) and role you need to code utilizing CSSDK.

But, make sure you are aware of implications when you go for each and every TS version upgrade.

Please don't! Not unless thread Author clearly indicated that s/he wants only 100% documented and supported approach.
(In which case all you'd have to do is to indicate proper Manual - that'll be a very informative Forum)

I have to agree with Bo. As long the fact that the fix may be unsupported, people should certainly continue to post them. Even if the poster does not know if it is supported, likely the community will chime in.

People use undocumented tricks or even hacks (oh, the horror of it all!) to develop in TS?!
I'm shocked, shocked! And some of them even dare to publish hacks on that Forum! What hutzpa. Bastards should
have made an FR and patiently wait 11 weeks for proper refusal!

Without unsung heroes who fight against this terrible trend we would have been totally lost

I guess I have to add that if you are posting then please state whether its documented/supported or if you are unsure. I can't tell you the number of times we show up for an upgrade and some menu items or other stuff "disappears" after the upgrade.
