Accessing content in shared branch
michaelangel0
Platform : Solaris 10
TeamSite version : 6.7.1
SitePublisher/LiveSite version : 3.0.2?
Does anyone know whether it is possible to access content, for example a DCR, in a branch other than the branch in which you are editing a SitePublisher page?
According to the documentation both the File and DCR datum types only allow you to specify a DCR/File using a relative path which will be rooted in the current area. Unless there is a workaround/alternative approach this will prevent us from achieving our desired goal of maintaining a repository of shared content which can be accessed from several branches.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Mike

You can achieve this but for that you have to write a custom browser for that with the help of which you can access the content in other branches.

I don't think I emphasised enough the fact that I'm talking about
SitePublisher
pages
not
standard TeamSite forms.
Even if I were to change the 'browse' link on the dialog window that appears when editing a DCR datum so that I use a bespoke x-branch browser, the component expects to find the DCR by combining the current area with the value in the DCR datum. Therefore, on the face of it at least, the DCR datum will not be suitable for our purposes due to this in-built restriction.
I'm therefore interested in what approaches other people have used for content sharing when using
SitePublisher/LiveSite
pages.

you cannot access other branches DCR's with the standard DCR datum.
file access is abstracted to allow access in both sitpub and runtime you would have to create your own file abstraction.
