Query regarding DNR script execution

Hi,

We have an OD configuration in which a DNR script is configured to be called on the condition :


dnrDeployment location="source" when="after" state="success" triggerPoint="disconnect"

The deployment definition associated with it, has comparison rules set as follows :

 comparisonRules  dateDifferent="yes"

i.e The DNR script should get invoked only when there is a date difference in the file to be deployed.
Now, the problem is whenever this definition is executed along with others, the DNR script gets invoked even if the file in question doesnt gets deployed(there is no date difference) which should not happen.

Please advise as in what should be changed in the OD configuration file so as to execute the DNR script whenver a particular file is deployed.

DNR Script will get executed everytime you invoke the deployment. It is not at all dependent on the rules anywhere in your deployment configuration.

Comparison Rules is used by OD agent to create the list of files that has to be deployed. But your deployment definition will be executed everytime and so does the DNR associated with it.

There is no OOTB feature for DNR to support your requirement. You have to twist your DNR script is such a way that it doesn't matter whether file is deployed or not. OR think of something so that you can identify in your script if the file is deployed.

Hi Achin,

We have a definition in the OD configuration file which is meant for deploying a single file (restricted by include pattern filter in the source) and has comparisonRules (dateDifferent=yes) set in the target i.e. a file will be deployed if the source modification date is either older or newer than the file present in the target.

I'm sorry. I wasn't aware of this feature. But anyways it doesn't cater to natasha's requirement (I guess). If I'm not wrong, she wants DNR script to be executed only when there are some files deployed. If nothing is deployed it shouldn't be executed. I don't think in that case dnrFile will help.

Bo is correct, as dnrFile can trigger the execution of the dnr script when a particular type of file is deployed. I think this feature is also suitable for Natasha's requirement.

Is there any option available for achieving this if the deployment is transactional like dnrFile is there for non-transactional?

Maybe you can always call a perl script that has all the logic you need inside.
