how can I paste text at the current cursor location in a visual edit field?

I need to paste a selected value in the cursor location in a visual edit field.

It works like this: callout from the visual editor and opens a new window, selecting a new value will copy the content to the visual editor. This is working fine.

But I need to copy it to the cursor location where it was before callout, in case some text is already there, e.g.,: "This is test". If cursor is after test, is should paste there.

Can anybody help?

Use pasteHTML Method of eWebEditPro, that pastes code in the current Cursor position.
Note that you'd have to find out Editor's Instance name to do that. Since you've indicated
that you can copy back to VFE you probably have this value already.

From the CGI Window, something like that:
top.opener.eWebEditPro[ Editor's Instance name ].pasteHTML("New Fragment");

That depends on what VFE-related JS you've modified to initiate the whole chain.
Was it "ewebeditproevents.js" or "datacapture_editor_events.js"?

In the original Post you've stated that

How could you successfully copy content back to VFE without knowing Editor Instance Name? What is the code?

This is the calling js block called from a callout:

I do not *beleive* that changing underlying code will work on the active VFE X-Control, but Ok. What about my first question?

I asked this question long back, if it can paste in visual editor, and i got reply it will work like for any other field...and it worked.

Within "datacapture_editor_events.js" current Instance name is passed in the sEditorName Variable.
(The value is usually 'MyContent1' or 'popup' if external-editor-inline is set to false)

I do not know how to obtain this information (or the reference to eWebEditPro Array for that matter)
from the regular DCT Callout. Perhaps somebody who implemented something similar would be able to help.
If not - you may try to reverse-engineer VFE Item to see how to properly build your FormAPI call-back Function.
That may or may not be trivial.
