How to connect to Worksite Server using JAVA

Hi All:
I'm a newbie in Worksite as well as in Interwoven.

It would be very helpful if someone can help me to find out a way how to connect to Worksite Server using JAVA as development tool. Still I can't figure out any api provided by them to connect to Worksite Server. But I can find out, there has several api to communicate to the Teamsite server.

Please help me find out the solution.
