Template logic help

Hi All,

Thanks in advance. I have a requirement and need help with the logic to implement the same.

I have a drop down(values- d1, d2, d3) and a hidden field in my DCT.

Depending on the value of the dropdown selected, the hidden field values should be set by reading a file (say if d1 is selected, then I need to read from d1.txt)

How do I achieve this? Any pointers would be appreciated.

You can use CallServer within your FormAPI code which calls an external script to read the text file based on the change of the value in the drop down.

On reading the value from text file, you could set the value within hidden text field.

You have to use FormAPI methods to achieve this. Following will be the steps:
1. Register a onItemChange handler on the item with drop-down
2. On change of the item's value use callServer to call a PERL script
3. In your PERL script write the logic to read the file and the hidden field value
4. Call a JS fucntion in your form that sets the value of hidden filed. Use parent.getScriptFrame().fucntionName().

Refer the FormAPI guide to learn how to implement these steps.

I am trying to pass on a value to the CGI from the form and getting a null value in $ucaval of the CGI. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Your code looks fine.
Try debugging the code. See if the parameter value that you are setting in the JS i.e. Titlename is not null.

Yes you are right. I am getting a value "0".

Actually, it is the value of the dropdown. Looks like it is getting the array index. I got that fixed.
