rename OpenDeploy instance

Hi,

I have multiple instances of OpenDeploy running. I want to rename one of the instances. say from abc to xyz. How can I achieve that? Is there any OD command available which will change all reference of abc to xyz internally?

OD Version 6.0.2.1.0 Build 52162 Interwoven 20050921
OS : Solaris 9

There is no way to do that on the fly. If you anticipate a conflict, make sure that new sessions have unique
instances. If you already have a conflict, let OD sort it out and carefully examine logs afterwards

Personally, I try to avoid killing OD processes if possible. Why does it not terminate on it's own?
Is it hung? Then kill it, you have no choice. Is it scheduled? Then deal with it using OD Scheduler API, GUI, what have you

Are you talking about a server instance or a deployment instance?

I think Boris' question (above) is assuming the latter - in which case I'd agree with him that the issue seems like a minor thing since the instance name for a deployment is generally a means to an end and not something of any great significance.

If, however, the question is with regard to server instances - then I think you would probably have to stop / reconfigure / start the OD services -- though that's just a guess as I've not yet had to deal with multiple server instances at any of my customer sites.

Ooops ... seems to be confusion here .. I am talking about server instance.

there is no command in OpenDeploy to rename the OpenDeploy server instance.if you want to change the name of existing one, you need to create new one and kill old one.
