TS License
prem_pratick
Hi All,
Please check the below if you are trying to generate a new license for TS 6.7.1. May be this would help you in deciding the various input fields.
Thanks
Prem
1. Server Type (Corporate/ WorkGroup/ Development/ StandBy)
What does each of this options means. Is there a cost difference between the options.
ANS: Corporate and WorkGroup usually are the production servers with Corporate being the more expensive license because of additional branches and other available flexibility like the option to add more components (CPU, branches, stores). Development servers are non-production servers that are used for testing purposes such as upgrading to different versions or testing code without worry of causing harm to your production box. The price of development servers are significantly less. Standby servers are also non-production servers, but priced higher than development because it can be a production server if your main server fails. Basically, it is used to imitate your main production server and take its place should any problems occur -- thus, turning your current production server into the standby server.
2. Processor Cores:
Whats is this and how to find out the same.
ANS: Processor Cores means the number of CPUs that your TeamSite license requires. Each core counts as one CPU. There are additional prices for CPU and you may purchase additional number of CPUs for your TeamSite license.
3. Hyperthreading Enabled/SUN T1?:
What is this and how to find out the same.
ANS: This feature is used only for SUN T1 hyperthreading systems. It allows the number of CPU to exceed the available number selectable from the Processor Core download field and provides a more accurate reading of CPU count for these types of systems. Basically, because of the architecture, it multiplies the number of selected processors by 4.
4. Branches:
What do we mean by no of branches. Does it mean the first level of branches or all the branches/sub-branches. If we generate the license for X no of branches and in the due course of time we add 50 More sun-branches, will the Teamsite stop working. Is there a cost involved for the same.
ANS: Number of branches refers to the number of main or first level branches. You may add any number of sub-branches. Yes, there is a cost involved. Workgroup comes with 5 branches and Corporate comes with 10. To obtain more you must purchase additional branches.

Can you please provide the source of this information? Typically these are all decided when one buys the software. You can generate a license key different from what your agreement is (based on what you understand) but you will be out of compliance.

Hi,
This are just points to be considered while getting a new License. But definately it depends on the contract that you are having with IW.
This is just for referance, and could be used by any one who is generating license for TS 6.7 and is not aware of the new fields that were introduced in the license generation page.
Thanks
Prem Pratick.
