user doesn't have teamsite menu items enabled

We created a new workarea recently, and one of the users who has 'author' and 'editor' roles doesn't have the 'New File', 'New Form Entry', 'New Folder' or 'Import' items enabled on the 'File' menu.

I'm sure this is something simple to resolve but I'm not having much luck.

We only have two users, the other is an admin, and everything is fine for them, but they are off-site at the moment.

I have checked iw.cfg and there are no menu items specifically restricted by role.

Which version of TeamSite? The users and groups are different in 6.5 and 6.7.1.

Does the users have access to the workarea? Have you made workarea as private for a particular user or sharing among group of users? What permissions have you applied on the workarea if TS 6.7.1?

Does the user have any editing rights within that workarea? My guess is that they don't - and that they're either missing from some basic permissions list (owner / group for sharing) of the workarea - or you somehow managed to create a "semi-user" -- a user who's id is only partially entered correctly in the system (on Windows, this might be a userid without the proper domain name)

Hi, the teamsite version is 6.5.0 SP3.

I have checked their roles and they are 'author' and 'editor', reset them and run iwreset.

the user is getting a 'not a writeable workarea' message whenever they try to manipulate a DCR.

it looks like they don't have permissions, and they are indeed a 'semi-user'.

just checking the branch, and sharing is set to private. I need to change this to group, I think.

the workarea was set up as private sharing, I used iwchgrp to change sharing to group, and it's working fine now.

Well you are on Solaris/Linux env.

F.Y.I when ever you assign user an access to a branch from UI he will have permissions to all in the workarea, but when you check the permissions on the workarea from commandline, it will show that the group is not assigned to the workarea, so always one has to make sure that the group has permissions to a particular workarea from commandline (putty).(Using iwchgrp one should assign right group to the workarea).
