Hi everyone,
is there any importance to htdocs directory???. I dont have htdocs folder under my branch, so i am storing my images under assets/images when i generate the preview the image doesnt show up even though i see the path to image to the file is correct, when i move the assets folder under htdocs directory magically the image shows up in the preview even though i dont change the dcr???. I see the path still being the same in the cases in the generated HTML
Please explain??

and one more thing i have noticed it that when i remove the " / " i get when I use browser the images are displayed

ex:
when i use broswer suppose the path i get is /assets/images/super.jpg if i edit to assets/images/super.jpg in dcr the image is displayed when i preview

Its nothing mandatory to keep the /htdocs directory, its the naming convention followed. The preview issue is because, the image path should be relative to the root of the workarea. You can change this setting either manipulating the dcr or the entry in the iw.cfg file.
Please always mention your environment details for better understanding.

all these concepts have been explained in detail on the Teamsite Administration manual
htdocs is just for organising your content better.. has no other importance. You will need to configure your iwproxy in case you decide to use htdocs folder to organise your content better.

The [iwproxy_remap] section in the iw.cfg file which contains the _docroot key which can set the value for preview. However, It depends how you want to keep the directory structure in different branches. Please go through the admin manual for detailed description.
