how to assign role to user

I created a user in a branch as an author, now when I am logging in as this user, none of the permissions like creating or editing file is working. So how to make these permissions work. someone told me that I should change the permissions in the work area, I did that too. But still it is not working.
What shall I do ?

Check the user permissions on that branch on which you created. Try by adding the user to the group shared by the workarea.

When you are logged in, you will see the user name on the top right corner. Click on that. Take a screenshot of the following screen and attach the same to your post. Also, please let us know the branch name under consideration.

Did you get a chance to check the file permissions? Please also copy paste the file permissions

The version is 6.7.1.0
I added a user "tabu" in the teamsite from command line

I logged in as kalpana (administrator) in teamsite
I added "tabu" as author in a branch say kalpana
I gave modify permissions to "tabu" in a workarea say "new author"

Logged in as tabu
went to the kalpana branch and in the "new author" work area
clicked on the file tab to modify a file, but none of the permissions is working

What did I do wrong ?
how to make sure that given permissions are working ?

Click on properties next to the file and then permissions on the top right corner. what do you find there?

I find full control in the permission for that particular file. But I can not edit that particular file, when I look at that file , edit permission is deactivated

can you on the particular branch, assign yourself as an author and remove any other roles for yourself and try editing the file?

Hi Kalpana,

Let me ask you few questions....Have you created a new workarea or using an old one? Does any user with any role can edit the file? Did you try to create a new file in the WA.

Hi Kalpana,

Login to teamsite 6.7.1 as master user.
Click on the Administration Tab, and navigate to Manage roles.

Under Manage Roles, select Author and verify below what all operations a author can perform. ( You can click on more details link to see the entire list).

If there are any operations, which you think the author should perform, select the check box and save.
