Templatedata directory location

Does the Templatedata directory have to be in the root of the workarea in a branch or can it be one directory down?

What are the downsides of moving the Templatedata directory one level down.

/templatedata
/x/templatedata

You can rename it in iw.cfg

You can try to make it x/templatedata

However I doubt it will work

It is probably for the whole store too. If you have multiple backing stores, it still uses the same iw.cfg file.
