Custom Preprocessor

I am having trouble getting data back from metatagger. I have created a preprocessor in .net that accepts the meta xml from stdin, it then pulls out a piece of info, and places the value in the xml and writes it out to the STDOUT... When l look at subjectMetadata0 in Teamsite I see the xml, but there no value for that specific field, it's appears to be blank. This preprocessor logs all inputs and outputs to a text file, so I can verify that the meta xml is correct when it writes it back out to stdout. In fact, I created another exe that just logs the info and added it as a postprocessor. The input had the value that I placed in the pre-processor, yet when teamsite gets it, it's not there...

I hope this explains what I'm trying to accomplish, maybe I'm doing this all wrong and don't have a understanding of preprocessors and how they work.

Some questions:

a) Which version of TS?

b) Are you using "next-gen" TagUI? If so, do you have a item mapping set up?

If you aren't using "next-gen" TagUI, you will need to inform TeamSite of the existence of the custom field. To do this, you need to create a manifest file (SMF) in DB_HOME. You can do this with the legacy Administration application (mthost:9080/mtadmin) or with an XML editor on the MT host. The smf is likely to look like:

we are using Interwoven TeamSite 6.7.1.0, and MetaTagger, Release 4.0.

I do have a SMF file out there for this field, the file looks like this:

Filename

What I'm not seeing is the data, after I tag it, I go to look at the file properties in Teamsite and the xml that is written to the EA subjectMetadata0 does not contain the value that the logs seem to indicated exist.

Is there an item in TagUI that maps that value to an EA? I believe all unmapped attributes and facets are pruned from subjectMetadata0. If you don't want it displayed, I believe it can be hidden.

(BTW - orginal or next/gen TagUI?)

Here is the ruleset from my datacapture.cfg file the item that is suppose to be populated is Filename

If you're using TS 671SP1, there is the option to use the "next-gen" tagui, which requires additional configuration for the ts/mt field mapping.

If you're using the older version, be aware that the item mapping is case-sensitive (e.g. "Filename" and "filename" will not match).

Have you tested with iwgenmetadata ?

We are not using SP1 here. I did some playing with iwgenmetadata, and it appears that the meta data that I see in my post-processor log is not coming back to Teamsite...and it appears the fields are named the same... Should I open a ticket?

Found the problem. when the metadata string is read in via the STDIN, the filed is '/Teamsite/MetaData/Filename'.. what teamsite needs is just 'Filename'.

I'm not sure if your familair with .net.

No changes will need to be made to the runtime.cfg because Windows knows how to execute .net applications. You will need to have the .net framework installed though, without that windows wont' be able to execute .net applications.

I actually have Visual Studio 2008, but downloaded the free Express version of C# Visual Studio to install on the metatagger server for debugging purpose. Just create a Console application.

Console.ReadLine() reads in STDIN,

Console.WriteLine() writes to STDOUT
