dcr inside another dcr

Can anyone tell me how to call a dcr in another dcr on an item change of the parent dcr?

there are several different ways that this *could* be done. what is your use case ?

If this is to be runtime, (i.e. I select blah from a select list and then the new days is loaded) you need some FormAPI and a callserver request to get the data, then more FormAPI to do with the data whatever you will.

My requirement is, on selection of an item from the list, i need the second dcr (which is already created and saved)to append with the opened dcr in the same form(or window).
I tried with cgi-callout, but it pops up the second dcr in the new window.

You can't append one DCR into another. Although, you can get the values form the second DCR and put those values in some items in the first DCR.
But the question is why you want to replicate the values in two locations? What are you trying to achieve through this? Can you explain briefly.

Our requirement is to place all the items of one DCR into another instead of creating same items in the cfg file.

No. You can't do that. Each DCT form is displayed according to the containers & items defined in its datacapture.cfg. You can't add new items on the run.

Is that the requirement - or your interpretation of the requirement?

Often times this "requirement" is met by putting references to the other DCR in the one DCR and having the PT load the other DCR(s) and extract content from them for the resulting generated page. The individual DCRs remain as-is, you just include path-references in one to reference the other(s).
