if i were to use "use strict" in my .tpl where should i include them first line of iw_perl, but when i do so i am having errors???

I believe you can not use strict within your tpl. Why do you need to use it? Any specific requirements?

I don't think you can do that. If I remember correctly, when I tried doing that, some of the IW/tpl code was not 'strict'...
