VFE Removes link when switching the views

Hi,

I am having a weird issue. The visual formatter removes the links on the HTML when i switch the view from VIEW SOURCE to VIEW WYSIWYG and VICE VERSA.

For ex: If i type <a href="http://www.ts.com">TEAMSITE</a> on the VFE in view source mode and if i switch back to WYSIWYG, then it removes the link and has only TEAMSITE. Or if i create a link using the HYPERLINK icon on the WYSIWYG mode and switch the view to VIEW SOURCE then also it removes the link.

Any idea?

Check Visual Format Configuration that you use for this particular textarea.
Look for the <remove> Sub-Tag of the <clean ...> Tag. Do you have anything there?

It was a good shot but, alas... Does not look like you have any problems here.
(I've assumed that Capital <REMOVE> above is a typo. If it isn't - note that XML
is case sensitive, your confuguration is mal-formed and therefore you are really using different one!)

Try the following URL from your local Browser http: //Your_TeamSite_Server/iw/ewebeditpro20/test.htm
If you've got 404, try to find similar Path under /iwhome/httpd/iw/ (it may be there, only with the suffix other
than 20).

Once there, get to the "View Source" mode and create an anchor Tag there.
Switch between WYSIWYG and Source Modes few times. Do you have the same issue in the test.htm?

I changed the case to lower and still it is not working. But the test.htm is working perfect. Its not removing the link on switching the views.

So, was the configuration mal-formed before you fixed it? If the answer is "Yes", chances are, you are not
using this Configuration. There is no way that malformed XML had been accepted by VFE prior to your fix.
So

What is your TeamSite Version?
What is the exact Configuration Path and Name?
What is the exact textarea Tag syntax?

Has "visualformatconfig.xml" been modified? Do you have a back-up copy of the OOTB VFE Configuration?

If you do, restore it and try again, see if that helps. Check this Ektron Manual for Configuration details that
may affect behavior, like Content clean-up and Accessibility Standards

The configuration file is never been modified.
But again, I restored and still the same issue.

We specify the path to our config file(s) to ensure that we call the correct one:

--> textarea required="t" cols="68" rows="7" external-editor="visualformat" external-editor-config="/iw/visualformatconfig.xml" <--

However, the problem may not be with the editor itself but with the html cleaning rules called each time you switch modes (by default it does things like removing empty pairs of tags.) This inherent cleaning can not be disabled but it can be modified in:

ektfilterxhtml10.xslt
ektfilter.xslt
ektfiltercustom.xslt

Have you made changes to [uncommented, added or removed functionality from] any of these files?
