Exclude Image files from Tagging

I want to exclude all image files (*.gif, *.jpg, etc) from tagging in the metadata screen through a workflow. However, these image files will be attached to the job as they are to be deployed.
Is there any filter configuration where we can filter out some files from getting tagged?

It's on the TeamSite side in /local/conf/metadata-rules.cfg

What my understanding is the metadata-rules.cfg file states the workarea where files needs to be tagged, but does it allow which type of files to be tagged? or which type of not to be tagged.

You can use regular expressions, not just area paths, to determine which tagging rules apply.
