Accessing container of DCT in javascript

Hi Team,

I am using Teamsite 6.7.0.1 on both Windows and Solaris 10 machines.
I have a DCT.
How to dynamically add new items in a container through javascript without taking the container's default attribute to some value.

I saw the FormAPI, and everything is there for IWItem, but setting a new value to default attribute of a Container is not there.

For ex: I want to set this 'default' attribute value of a container dynamically through javascript.

(container name="rl_list" location="rl_list" combination="and" default="8" min="0" max="20")

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Did you read something about Xpath?

You have to provide complete path .. till your item

RootContainer/Container/Item

You need to write something like:
var container = IWDatacapture.getItem('XPath of the item')

container.addInstance(id) => where id is the position of the element

You can get the xpath name by getting the rootitem, then going through the children.

I think you're looking at the problem the wrong way - changing the default attribute via FormAPI isn't going to do you much good since the default attribute was processed when the DCT was first loaded, before it was rendered and your FormAPI code is running after it has done the initial rendering.

Instead, you should still be using FormAPI, but be looking to programmatically add instances of the container based on the various conditions you care about - keep in mind whether the code should do this for existing DCRs when loaded for editing, for new DCRs only, or both.
