problem with Smart Context Editing / Visual preview Toolbar

My Smart Context Editing / Visual Toolbar is not opening the right dcr.

On my html page when i click on Edit(on Smart Context Editing / Visual Toolbar) it is not opening a dcr for editing. It is opening html file in notepad...
No idea why it is not opening dcr...any suggestions...

Chances are, your html does not have proper extended attributes to *map* it back to the Source DCR.
Check html File's Attributes, the following EAs must be correctly set:

TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDCR
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDocumentType
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryPT
TeamSite/Templating/Encoding (This one is optional)

How do you regular "Edit" work on the DCR? Does it again open a html?

If the edit works, then try creating a new DCR open it and try editing it with smart content editor. see what happens.

By the way there is no mention of your system info, i.e version, OS etc.

edit is working from main window...it doesn't work with visual preview toolbar...

Have you set [iwproxy_smartcontextedit_allowed] section in your iw.cfg? If you did, what's in it?

No it doesn't work for new dcr too....

let me check what we have in iw.cfg file....

What browser (and version of browser) are you using?
What (and whose) Java version is your browser using?

Can you repeat the problem from other client machines?
Can you repeat the problem logged in as someone else?

i.e.: how much time have you spent truly trying to diagnose the problem?

Something is seriously out of whack with your Environment, your issue explanations or both.
If I were you I would check the following:

1. View HTML. Click More / Properties from the SCE Toolbar. Are they what you expect?
If they are, check that the Type Path and the DCR really exist in the same Workarea, were not renamed, deleted,
mis-spelled, what have you. Check that you have writing Permissions to this DCR.

If they are not, check your iwproxy settings. Is it possible that you redirect an asset upon rendition?

2. Note that SCE uses MIME type to determine how to handle the file. By chance, do you use non-standard extensions
for your HTML generated components (like *.fragment, etc)? Do you use standard extension that denotes a fragment
(*.shtml and the like)?

3. Does it happen for all generated HTML? Only some? Only one?

4. If nothing else helps, contact Support

Follow the advice given above, Just for giggles, how long ago did u do a iwreset -a or a system restart. If it is prod system, i wouldn't do any of these until off hours. If it is dev server i would give these two a shot at and then try to contact support.

I am getting any properties from SCE Toolbar. When i click on More from the SCE Toolbar nothing happens.

I don't have any settings on iw.cfg which is rendering this.

Yes, it is happening for all the generated SHTML files.

Trying a slightly different approach based on the information that's already been posted ...

Is the file that is being opened up in notepad the DCR (XML code) or the included file (*.shtml) ?

Is the URL of the page being viewed actually a direct path to the generated HTML page that contains the included .shtml file(s)? Or is this going through an application server JSP page first?

a) All my files are with extension .shtml.

I think that iwproxy does not render the File you've clicked for the preview. Request gets redirected. Based on the a) and b) above I
would guess that you've installed and configured SSI Web Server plugin (ISAPI) and corresponding iwproxy redirect.

So, in your iw.cfg, do you have [iwproxy_plugin_remap] Section? If you do, what's in it?
