multiple instances and receiver server

I was going through odadmin6.1.1 pdf, page 53.

It is stated that you can have multiple instances on the same server and these instances can act as target nodes. Does it mean that, where base server is installed, we can create more instances using "iwodinsttool
-create -odinst inst_name" and these instances can receive deployments ?

If its so then why do we need to install receiver server ? we can just create instances of base servers on different computers and use it for deployments.

Are there any material differences between base server and receiver server ?

Read it again - including what you posted.
You can have multiple instances on the same server - a base server is always both a sender and receiver - so all that says is that you can create multiple instances which can act normally.

If you have remote servers - you still need to install receivers on them (or use a delivery adapter)
