VCM 8.0 upgrade effort

Last year, we upgraded from VCM 7.5 to 7.6. We are now looking into upgrading from 7.6 to 8.0. I'm curious what the relative effort of the 8.0 upgrade is compared to, say, 7.5 to 7.6. Is the effort about the same? Twice the effort? Three times the effort? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Did you get any information about the upgrade effort?

We are looking at the upgrade from 7.5 to either 7.6 or 8. Could you please share your experience of upgrading from 7.5 to 7.6? In addition to the base VCM product, we also used some extension library, such as ePhox inline link, OTM etc. Did you have any issue upgrading those extensions?

All the extensions you are listed below (except the etc. part J)have been ported to VCM 8.0.x and will be available shortly on the OpenTextDeveloper Network (we can currently working on the documentation). In themeantime, they can be provided to you by a Professional Services consultant.

No, I never received any information about the effort to upgrade from 7.6to 8.0. Regarding our experience of upgrading from 7.5 to 7.6 (and we alsohave quite a bit of customization, including inline links and OTM):We did not have any issues upgrading these extensions. In general, theupgrade went well for us. we were told by support that v8.0.1 (i think .. ) would include 'skip level upgrade' functionality which would allow us to go directly from 7.5 to 8. this version was due out at the end of July but we have not seen it via the downloads yet.

otherwise its my understanding we would need to upgrade twice in order to get to v8 from version 7.5. so we have waited for this new version and hope to see it available soon.

actually .. just heard back from support and they said its version 8 SP1 which contains the skip level upgrade functionality and its available now.

we have done several vcm upgrades .. and its never been trivial thats for sure. but we are optimistic this time around that inlineTags, etc .. will go more smoothly.

Thanks for the link.

I am a little worried about the skip level upgrade from V7 to V8 since I heard that the architectue changed significantly from 7 to 8. Also the extension modules we used are not part of the base product and I haven't seen the V8 version of those modules posted. I am afraid that the direct upgrade will break all those modules. (We have customized code on top of those modules as well)

Please share your experience if anyone has done the skip level upgrade, especially if you have extra extension modules like ePhox inline link, OTM, audit, reference.
