Problems importing from MediaBin to Teamsite

Hi,

I am new to the world of MediaBin. We are currently using Teamsite as our content management tool and we are just now starting to bring MediaBin into the mix.

I created a simple template for press releases that need to call a photo from MediaBin but here is the issue... when I hit the generate button on teamsite I get this:

From the log exception you have sent,looks like the pointer to the digital asset is pointing to a different location. We could see the asset unavailable exception.
Are you able to browse the image from the DCR? Make sure the asset is placed in the proper location.

Can you post me your DCR (xml) File as it is, may be we can try replicating that in our env.

Let me give a quick explanation of what happens from the the moment the PT executes and some ideas for troubleshooting.

1) you browse MB from the form and select the asset. The GUID of that asset is stored in the DCR.

2) The PT tag (iwov_import_mediabin) makes a local HTTP request into a ContentCenter servlet with some parameters (GUID, retrieval task, etc.).

3) Now we are back in the ecmconnector Java code which uses the MediaBin SOAP API to request the image rendition.

4) If successful, the MB SOAP server (IIS) stages the rendition in a transfer directory and the ecmconnector downloads the rendition to the TeamSite workarea.

It appears things are failing at step #3. There should be additional information about the failure in the iw-servletd log file, but it does appear that MediaBin cannot find the GUID. It would be good to check the DCR and try to validate that the GUID is correct and stored in the field that is being referenced by the presentation template. It might be that your PT is trying to grab the GUID from one xpath and the form is storing it in another?

Is there any reason that you need to use the deferred import mode (i.e., import from within the PT)? The easier solution is to have the import happen at the time the user selects the file rather than at generate time. We call this mode "immediate" and the PT can be written to deal with a local image. The deferred mode adds a layer of complexity and should only be used if you have either of these requirements:

a. need to regnerate/reimport the file during a workflow step
b. need to use a complex retrieval tasks that requires runtime parameters.

I hope some of this is helpful. If you need more assistance troubleshooting, it would be good to open a case with tech support. The ecmconnector is used by many customers, so we have proof that it does work and I'm confident we can figure out what issue you are hitting.

Are you able to import images through ECM? Keeping forms publisher aside for the time being, it might be worth checking if ECM settings and if you are able to import images from Mediabin? Once this is working then we can look at troubleshooring image import from DCR. Cliff made a very good point about immediate vs deferred. You may want to consider immediate import.

Open the menu from TS and look for import option
Choose the option mediabin and try to import an asset.

As cliff mentioned earlier , the issue may be related with GUID
Try to check the GUID value for a particular asset in MB and after
Import at DCR level
